Call for Designers:

Overview

The African Fashion Council (AFC), in collaboration with Dhana Inc., is proud to invite applications from exceptional Indian and African designers to join the Threads of Legacy: Africa × India Sustainable Luxury Mission in November / December 2026. This initiative bridges two continents through craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural storytelling.

We seek designers who have developed at least four collections and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, circular fashion and heritage preservation.

Selected African and Indian designers will collaborate with each other and artisans, explore India’s craft clusters and have the opportunity to showcase their creations on a global stage.

Application Process

Participation Support & Subsidization

To support broad and equitable participation, Threads of Legacy may offer limited subsidization to selected participants to assist with travel, accommodation, and essential program-related expenses.

Support is made possible through strategic partners and institutional collaborations and is allocated based on program needs and mission priorities. Detailed information will be shared directly with selected participants during onboarding.

Selection and Announcement

A panel of experts from African Fashion Council (AFC), Dhana Inc., and the Advisory Board (representing government, media, and academia) will evaluate applications based on creativity, sustainability, and collaboration potential.

Ten African and ten Indian designers will be selected. Final announcements will be made in April 2026.
