For Leading African Designers in Sustainable Luxury

The African Fashion Council (AFC) in collaboration with Dhana Inc. and the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations is proud to invite applications from exceptional African designers to join the Threads of Legacy: Africa × India Sustainable Luxury Mission in November/ December 2026. This initiative bridges two continents through craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural storytelling.
We seek designers who have developed at least four collections and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, circular fashion, and heritage preservation. Selected designers will collaborate with Indian counterparts and artisans, explore India's craft clusters, and showcase their creations on a global stage.
Key Highlights
- Participation in an international Runway Showcase & Exhibition in New Delhi, Jaipur or Mumbai.
- Collaboration with Indian designers and craft communities across India's textile hubs.
- Integration into the D/Sphere AI-powered fashion platform for global digital exposure.
- Visibility through global media partnerships (Vogue India/Africa, Elle, Business of Fashion, UN Web TV).
- Inclusion in the official ‘Hands Behind Our Clothes’ campaign and documentary series.
We invite you to submit your portfolio (minimum four collections) and a one-page statement outlining your brand’s sustainability journey by January 31, 2026.
