A Landmark Collaboration Between Africa and India in Sustainable Luxury, Innovation, and Cultural Diplomacy

New Delhi, India – January 2026 – The African Fashion Council (AFC) and Dhana Inc., in partnership with the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, announce the launch of “Threads of Legacy: Africa × India Sustainable Luxury Mission 2026”, a groundbreaking initiative uniting Africa and India through craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability. The mission aims to establish a new model of cultural diplomacy that advances creative exchange, circular fashion, and cross-continental collaboration.

Rooted in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aligned with India’s “Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE)” movement, Threads of Legacy will bring together ten leading African and ten Indian designers for a two-week immersive mission in November–December 2026. Participants will co-create capsule collections, explore craft clusters, and present their work at a landmark runway showcase and exhibition in New Delhi or Mumbai.

A Bridge Between Continents

Threads of Legacy redefines luxury as a meeting point between heritage, sustainability, and innovation. Through this initiative, Africa and India will strengthen South–South cooperation and celebrate their shared legacy of artisanal excellence, craftsmanship, and storytelling. The mission underscores fashion’s role in global diplomacy and sustainable development.

Highlights of the Mission

Two-week cross-cultural design immersion (November/December 2026) featuring ten African and ten Indian designers.
Runway Showcase & Exhibition in New Delhi, Jaipur or Mumbai highlighting collaborative capsule collections.
Integration of AI through the D/Sphere platform for digital storytelling and fashion transparency.
Cultural and textile journeys to India’s artisan hubs.
Publication of the White Paper on Africa–India Creative Cooperation endorsed by the UN and NITI Aayog.
